Create an HTML Document in Word

 

This demonstration will show you how to create a picture for use in your Outlook Stationery.

 

  1. Word is open.
  2. Click “Insert/Picture/From file…” as shown in Fig. 1.

  1. Now you need to find a picture on your system. In this demonstration, I will choose an existing picture on my hard drive as shown in Fig. 2. Please click Insert once you have found a picture.

  1. Now you should see the picture in Word as shown in Fig. 3. I added a couple of hard returns to lower the picture slightly.

  1. Now click File/Save as Web Page as shown in Fig. 4.

  1. Now you should see the familiar Save dialog box as shown in Fig. 5. Please type a name and save it at this location: C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Stationery. This will make the stationery available in Outlook. Click Save to continue.

  1. In a moment, your page will be displayed as a web page. Notice how the document shifted to the left slightly as shown in Fig. 6. Also notice the name has changed to “Dave1.htm” in the title bar of the document window.

  1. That’s it. Now, refer to the section on “How to use Stationery” and you should be able to select the HTML document as your background as shown in Fig. 7. As you can see, I am specifying the file name instead of starting with a blank stationery as shown previously.
