Grossmont Symphony Orchestra

The Grossmont Symphony Orchestra with soloist Gregg Nestor on classical guitar performs 7:30-9 p.m. Friday, March 10, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 8175 Lemon Grove Way, in Lemon Grove.

The repertoire includes a multimedia presentation of Canadian composer Howard Leslie Shore’s score from Lord of the Rings; Boccherini/arr. Cassado Concerto in E Major for Guitar and Orchestra; and Death and Transfiguration (Tod und Verklärung), Op. 24, by Richard Strauss.

General admission is $10, $5 for students. 

The Grossmont Symphony Orchestra (GSO), and Master Chorale (GMC), are East County's answer to quality classical music performances. Under the musical direction of Randall Tweed, the 70-member orchestral and 40-member choral ensembles are comprised of music and non-music majors, music teachers, and talented musicians from the community.
