Chancellor and Classified Senate Award

 

The annual Chancellor and Classified Senate award recognizes the outstanding contributions made by an exceptional classified professional at each of the District sites: Cuyamaca College, Grossmont College and District Services.  The theme of the 2023-2024 award is The GCCCD Spirit Award.  The awardees will be selected based upon their positive attitude, their efforts at making students’ educational paths more rewarding, and the inspirational example they provide for their colleagues to create an amazing working environment at the colleges/District.  The award will be presented at the May 14, 2024, Governing Board meeting.

Who's eligible: Any contract, or percent of contract, or classified professional is eligible for nomination. Classified professionals may be nominated by a student leader, faculty member, manager/supervisor, adminisrator, or another classified professional. Click here TO NOMINATE SOMEONE FOR THIS AWARD!

NOTE: The Classified Senate Executive Board wants to give classified members yet to be recognized an opportunity to be honored. Therefore, the nominee cannot have won within the past five (5) years.  Please see the Districtwide Classified Senate website here for past recipients.

Criteria:

Candidates for this award will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  1. Goes above and beyond to uplift our college/District community.
  2. Consistently strives to make our students' and/or co-workers' journeys amazing.
  3. Consistently exhibits a positive attitude and inspires others to also be positive.
  4. Strives to form positive, collegial relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and other classified professionals.
  5. Employee has not been a recipient of this award in the past five (5) years.

The Award:

Each recipient will receive a $250 gift card to Barnes & Noble, and an inscribed acrylic trophy.  Recipients will also be invited to attend the statewide Classified Leadership Institute (in June 2024).

The Selection Process:

The Classified Senate Presidents will forward an unranked slate of two to four top nominees from each location to the Chancellor’s office for review and selection.

The nominator(s) will be invited to join the Classified Senate President and the Chancellor in presenting the award at the May Governing Board meeting.
