Serving on the Governing Board since
2004 and elected in 2006, Bill Garrett is 2009 Board President. The
former El Cajon city manager and president of the Cuyamaca College
Foundation has also served as a member of the college district's
Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. Trustee Garrett's major areas of
focus include reducing the cost of textbooks, ensuring the proper
use of bond monies, and continued development of financial aid
resources for the district's students.
Deanna Weeks, 2009 Board Vice President
and 2006 Governing Board
President, is the President/CEO of the East County Economic
Development Council. She has a history of bringing business and
education together to strengthen student preparation and success.
Ms. Weeks is also president of a nonprofit foundation that provides
support to students and instructors, and college and high school
programs.
Trustee Weeks' background includes the
promotion and development of local businesses, Internet resource
development, and college textbook editing. She serves on several
East County nonprofit boards. Her B.A. degree is from UC Berkeley.
First elected in 2006, Trustee Barr has
been elected 2009 Governing Board Clerk. He is firmly committed to
supporting educators and students at Grossmont and Cuyamaca
colleges.
Mr. Barr, a former teacher, leader,
mentor, and twice elected teacher association president, received
the California Teachers Association WHO Award. As a member of
three accreditation teams, he participated in evaluating
continuation high schools.
After 30 years as a high school history
teacher and four years coordinating the training of teachers and
staff in computer applications, Greg Barr retired and is pursuing a
new career in real estate.
Rick Alexander, past Governing Board
President, has focused on fiscal management, fiscal resources, and
educational quality since his election to the board in 1990. As
founding president of the Board Alliance of the San Diego-Imperial
Counties Community Colleges Association, Trustee Alexander provided
statewide trustee leadership to equalize community college funding.
The successful effort has resulted in millions of additional dollars
benefiting students.
A 30 year resident of the East County,
Rick Alexander is active in East County real estate. He and his wife
Joan have two daughters, both of whom attended Grossmont and
Cuyamaca Colleges.
Mary Kay Rosinski was elected to the
Board in 2008. A committed advocate for students, staff, and
educators, Ms. Rosinski was nominated for Teacher of the Year for
the National School District where she is employed as a special
education teacher. She is a recipient of the Anita Snow Memorial
Scholarship for achievements in Special Education and other
recognitions.
Ms. Rosinski served two terms as her
teacher's association president and has chaired a number of
committees, including Peer Assistance and Review and the Rolling
Readers Program.
Christopher Enders is committed to
connecting students to the decisions made that affect them. His
involvement in many different aspects of Grossmont College,
including theater, dance and student government, has brought him
into contact with students from all walks of life. As elected
Comptroller, Christopher serves on the ASGC board of directors.
Christopher earned an associate degree in 2007 and has returned to
pursue a degree in political science, transfer to UCLA and later
study law.
Chuck Taylor is a re-entry student
striving for dual Associate Degrees in Environmental Management and
Occupational Safety and Health. He has held a number of
positions in student clubs and as a board officer with the
Associated Students of Cuyamaca College as well as representing
students on both college and District committees. Trained in
emergency preparedness and response, Chuck has been involved in
outreach and support. He plans to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in
Wildlife and Ecology Management.
