As you can see, the Task Pane can be turned off several ways.

1. When you click View and then Task Pane.

2. Click the "X" located in the upper right of the Task Pane.

3. Uncheck the checkbox in the lower right of the Task Pane and it will not appear again.

4. Click Tools and then Options to see how to turn it off this way.
