Online Class Information

 

Orientation

Some instructors require that you attend an on-campus orientation.  Please check the Class Schedule for on-campus orientation dates. In addition, please find your instructor's web page listed in the directory for the class syllabus and more information about the class. Otherwise, you may use this online orientation to get started.

Once you are enrolled in an online class, an account will be generated for you to access either Blackboard or WebCT. In most cases, you may not access the course until the first day of school. 

Accessing your online course

Find out from your instructor whether your course will be using Blackboard or WebCT. Then follow the procedures below.

 

Blackboard:

  • Direct your browser to: http://bb.gcccd.net/ 

  • Click the Login button.

  • Enter your Username and Password
    Username: firstnamelastname
    Password: your six digit birth date

  • If you are unable to access the course, please contact your instructor via email.  Instructor email addresses are located in the Directory. 

  • The online classes that you are taking that use Blackboard should be listed under My Courses.

  • Click onto the course that you want to work on.

 
 

WebCT:

  • Direct your browser to: http://webct.gcccd.net

  • Select Log in to myWebCT. 
    (Please note that some instructors ask you to Create My WebCT to add the course.  Do not do this unless you are instructed to do so by your instructor.)

  • Enter your WebCT ID and password
    WebCT ID: firstnamelastname
    Password: your six digit birth date

  • If you are unable to access the course, please contact your instructor via email.  Instructor email addresses are located in the Directory.

  • The online classes that you are taking that use WebCT should be listed on the top left-hand corner.

  • Click onto the course that you want to work on.

 

Online class materials and books

Online class materials and books are available from the College Bookstore. Required class materials and text books are listed with each class description in the online syllabi. All class materials and textbooks, unless otherwise specified, are required for the first day of class.

 

How to access your email account

All students enrolled at Grossmont and Cuyamaca automatically have a student email account created for them. Your email account is: firstnamelastname@students.gcccd.edu. 
 

Go to the following page:  http://students.gcccd.edu  When the page loads, you will then see a logon screen with a text box, as shown below:
 
 
User name= firstnamelastname

Password= your college pin

Your e-mail address looks like this:
firstnamelastname@students.gcccd.edu

Blackboard

The Blackboard User Manual provides orientation information on navigating through the Blackboard Academic Suite and participating in courses. The manual includes information on customizing the appearance and content of the tabs, collaborating and communicating with users, and working within a course to complete assignments and tests.

If you would like to see a sample of  the elements in WebCT, please click on WebCT Orientation  and enter the Username and Password below.

Select Student Orientation.
