Parking Permits

 

All students, staff, and faculty must display a valid parking permit while parked in all District lots. The parking permit is a license to park a specific vehicle in accordance with the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District Parking Regulations. Student Parking permits may be purchased from the cashier window of either the Grossmont or Cuyamaca campus. Staff Parking permits may be obtained from the cashier window at the Cuyamaca campus and from the Business Services office at the Grossmont campus.

 

The purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee the purchaser of a parking space. The District is not responsible for lost or stolen parking permits. Lost or stolen permits must be replaced at the vehicle owner's expense. Replacement permits may be purchased and obtained from the same place where the initial permit was obtained.

 

Single Vehicle Sticker Permit

 

A single vehicle sticker permit costs $40.00. This type of permit may only be applied to windows with the adhesive that has been provided. All pieces of the adhesive covering must be removed with no loose or partial corners remaining. The permit may not be laminated, placed in a plastic sleeve, applied with scotch tape or displayed in any manner other than described.

  • The single vehicle sticker permit IS NOT TRANSFERABLE TO OTHER VEHICLES.

  • This type of permit must be displayed in one of the following locations to be valid:

    • On the rear window, either side, inside lower corner, OR

    • Convertibles, open vehicles (Jeep-type) or vehicles with dark tint on the back window must affix the permit to the front windshield, either side, inside lower corner.

Multi-Vehicle (Hanger) Permit

 

A multi-vehicle permit costs $40.00. This type of permit MAY BE TRANSFERRED to another car owned by the same person. Multi-vehicle permits must not be obstructed by a sunshade, items on the dashboard, or by anything which prevents the visibility of the color and/or expiration date. The multi-vehicle permit must be displayed in one of the following locations in order to be valid:

  • Hanging from the rear-view mirror facing forward, 
    OR

  • Lying face-up on the front dashboard

Motorcycle Sticker Permit

  • Starting on the Fall 2003 semester, motorcycle permits will no longer be required however motorcycles must be parked in designated motorcycle lots.

  • MOTORCYCLES PARKED IN AUTO PARKING SPACES WILL BE CITED.

Special Parking Permits: ONE DAY PARKING PERMIT

 

A one day parking permit costs $2.00 (dollar bill or coins) and is valid for the date and time issued.

 

Parking Permit Dispensers are located as follows:

  • GROSSMONT CAMPUS: PERMIT DISPENSERS ARE LOCATED AT EACH STUDENT PARKING LOT.

  • CUYAMACA CAMPUS: A PERMIT DISPENSER IS LOCATED BETWEEN LOTS 1 AND 4 AND ONE BETWEEN STUDENT LOTS 1 AND 2.

Temporary Parking Permits

 

Temporary parking permits may be obtained at the District Police Headquarters at Grossmont College and at the District Police office at Cuyamaca College, upon showing proof of purchase of the current semester permit.

 

DISABLED PARKING PERMITS

 

All vehicles utilizing disabled parking must have a state issued identification placard, i.e., Department of Motor Vehicle issued placard, DP or DV plates. Applications for placards/plates are available at the Department of Motor Vehicles or from Disabled Students Programs and Services.

 

Students who have a current California disabled placard are not required to pay for a semester parking permit. Temporary parking permits for the disabled may be issued by Disabled Students Programs and Services personnel (not to exceed two weeks).

 

Parking Areas

 

Permit parking is enforced on all District property:

  • Monday - Thursday from 7am - 10pm

  • Friday and Saturday from 7am - 5pm

Sunday and District holidays - no citations are issued for failure to display student parking permit. All other parking and traffic violations will be enforced.

  • Failure to display a valid student permit

  • Failure to display a valid staff permit

  • Improperly displayed permit

  • Altered/Counterfeit permit

  • Expired meter

  • Undesignated Area (Hash mark / No parking zone)

  • Red Zone / Hydrant / Fire lane

  • Time zone violation (15, 30 minutes)

  • Handicapped space

Motorist Assistance

 

The District Police provide the following services:

  • Vehicle Lock-out

  • Vehicle battery jump

  • Flat tire and Towing

VEHICLE LOCK-OUT AND BATTERY JUMP

 

Anyone who has been locked out of their vehicle on District property and require assistance gaining entry into their vehicle or require a battery jump start for their vehicle may contact the District Police office by either calling (619) 644-7654, dialing extension 7654 from any District phone or utilizing one of the Emergency call boxes located at each parking lot.

 

The person requesting assistance must present a pictured identification and must be the registered owner for the vehicle. A Request of Motorist Assistance Waiver of Liability Form must be completed by the person requesting assistance to relieve the liability from the College District on any damages that may occur to the vehicle during the vehicle lock-out or battery jump.

 

VEHICLE FLAT TIRE AND TOWING

 

The District Police offers assistance in calling an authorized auto service for motorists requiring flat tire and towing service.
