Police Services
The District Police Department
provides 24-hour-a-day police services to persons and property on District grounds,
facilities, parking lots, and at adjacent or off-site locations.
However, all persons on District property are
primarily responsible for their own safety and property.
District Police Officers are Sworn
Peace Officers in compliance and pursuant to California Penal Code 830.32 (a) and
California Education Code 72330 and have full law enforcement authority
throughout the state. District Police Officers are vested with full law
enforcement powers and responsibilities as local police and deputy sheriffs
in your home community.
In addition to the District
Police Officers, the department employs uniformed Community Service
Officers who provide building security, escorts, and assistance with special
events.
The District Police Department
has established Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's) with local law
enforcement agencies in which our two college campuses are located.
The MOU's between the Department
and local law enforcement agencies have been in effect since 1998. The
Mutual agreements allow the Department to have primary operational
responsibility for law enforcement and investigative services on college
district property, with the assurance that local law enforcement agencies can
be called for assistance and mutual aid as appropriate. Copies of
these agreements are available to the public at the District Police
Department headquarters, which is located at the Grossmont College campus,
building #600-Annex, near parking lot #5. Copies are also available at
the District Police office, which is located at the Cuyamaca College campus
at Rancho San Diego Parkway, ‘Z’ building.
