  • Activation and Direction of the Cuyamaca Campus Emergency Response and Recovery
  • Activates and deactivates the Emergency Operations Plan
  • Proclaims Cuyamaca Campus Emergency
  • Informs and coordinates with the Chancellor
  • Directs the recovery process and resumption of educational programs at the Cuyamaca Campus

PROCEDURES

TIME / DATE

EMERGENCY RESPONSE:  

When aware of and informed of any emergency or pending emergency which may affect and/or impact Cuyamaca Campus properties, staff and/or operations, contact the Chancellor and other key staff to begin the process of activation. Determine if the Cuyamaca Campus Command Center will be activated.

 
Ensure that a full communications program is implemented at Cuyamaca to inform students, staff, media, and others who will be affected by the action. Coordinate all official communication with the District Public Information Officer.  
Evaluate the potential risks and best courses of action to prepare and respond to the emergency. Always plan for the priorities of:
  • Life Safety - protection of lives and injury
  • Protection of Property
  • Containment of Hazards - protection of Campus Staff and the public
  • Resumption of Normal Operations
 
Ensure that status reports on the situation at Cuyamaca are provided to the District EOC and Chancellor.  
Assist the Cuyamaca Campus CC Manager with the coordination of CC operations and coordinating with the District EOC. If Cuyamaca Campus is the only District property affected by the emergency, request additional support from the District EOC to work on site at Cuyamaca.  
Begin planning for the resumption of normal operations and services on campus and a phased in resumption of the educational programs. Allow at least 24 hours to communicate the plan to staff and faculty.  
Direct the CC Manager to establish a schedule of operations for the CC, to plan for the eventual closing of the CC and return to normal operations.  
RECOVERY:  
Support the Chancellor and District EOC with the development of a District recovery plan. Communicate the plan to all key staff and representatives at Cuyamaca.  
Review and debrief the Cuyamaca Campus emergency response and recovery process. Identify key learnings and opportunity for improvement to the Cuyamaca plans, training programs, and facilities.  
Send acknowledgments to all agencies and services that supported Cuyamaca during the emergency.
