PROCEDURES

TIME/DATE
EMERGENCY RESPONSE:

Report to the EOC. Sign in with Situation Status Immediately get a report on emergency conditions and situations. Check in with the Operations Team Leader.

If it is suspected that people may be injured or trapped, plan for Lt. Search and Rescue operations. Have the Teams report to a staging area near the GCCCD Grossmont EOC. Make contact with the Operations Team Leader with the list of team members and to obtain equipment and assignments.
Dispatch teams to search assigned areas. If not already prepared, establish a pattern for search. If requested, have teams check each building ensuring complete evacuation. Note unsafe conditions and areas.
Remove any trapped or injured persons, according to established procedures, assisting the injured to the First Aid Center, or sending for help if the person cannot safely be moved. NOTE: If there is structural damage to the building or severe hazard (electrical, etc.) to rescuers, advise the Operations Team Leader or the officer-in-charge before proceeding. You may need to call the Fire Department and other experts in order to successfully rescue a victim without further harm to yourself and/or the victim. This is especially important for earthquake damaged buildings which may fully collapse during aftershocks.
Have teams assist found persons to the Medical Treatment Area for first aid.
Have teams assist and direct all students, visitors or others as directed by the EOC.
Report team status to the Operations Officer, receive further assignments for the teams.
If no further search and rescue is needed, prepare to have teams assist with medical and first aid or care and shelter.
When released, have teams return all equipment to the EOC.
Do not release the identities or other information about victims to anyone other than the EOC.
RECOVERY:
De-activate your position in the EOC as directed by the Operations Team Leader. Keep copies of all of your logs, reports, messages, and any other documents you used and received in the EOC for your own records. Keep these copies for a period of one year or as directed by the EOC Operations Team Leader.
Provide a summary report of rescue incidents, actions taken, coordination with other agencies and related information for the GCCCD After-Action Report. Forward your information to the Operations Team Leader.
