This procedure identifies departmental phone numbers and hours for the Department of Public Safety, Health Services, Operations, Risk Management, Evening Division, and Student Affairs.

COMMENTS

The Department of Public Safety must be notified for all situations requiring emergency response units. They will call 911 if necessary, and will also escort emergency response units to the site. The Department of Public Safety is open 24 hours and can be reached on campus by dialing "#1" from the public telephones that are equipped with emergency speed dialing. There is one speed dial phone per phone cluster. If "911" is utilized and Public Safety is not notified, emergency response units will not know how to find the emergency site.

 

GUIDELINES

WHEN PLACING CALLS

  1. Give your name.

  2. Give your extension number.

  3. Give room number or other specific location.

  4. Describe the condition clearly and accurately.

  5. Don't hang up; let the person you are talking to end the conversation.

If the internal phones are down, go to the nearest public phone equipped with speed dialing and dial "#1" or 465-0751. Speed dialing phones are identified by a sign above the phone that says:

Public Safety/Security Office

Speed dialing phones will connect the caller directly to the Campus Public Safety Office for emergency assistance. An automated voice will tell the Security Officer the location of the call, even if the caller does not speak or hangs up.
