REQUIREMENT I.B. COMPLIANCE
The program shall include a system for ensuring the employees comply with safe and healthy work practices. Substantial compliance wit this provision includes recognition of employees who follow safe and healthful work practices, training and retraining programs, disciplinary actions, or any other such means that ensures employee compliance with safe and healthful work practices. SAFETY AND HEALTH INCENTIVE PROGRAM The District Safety Committee may develop a safety and health incentive program for recommendation and implementation. an incentive program is one method that can be used by the district to ensure that employees comply with safe and healthy work practices. Incentive and recognition programs send an important message from management to employees, namely that safety and health are important. Incentive programs do not have to be expensive nor do they have to be complicated. quite often, successful companies in private industry have found that simple programs, coupled with strong management interest and support, are the most effective. The following suggestions are offered for consideration and will be discussed for implementation at a future date.
The success of an incentive and recognition program is dependent upon strong management and employee support and involvement. It is important that the program be well publicized in the district. |
