Injury and Illness Prevention

OUTSIDE TRAINING

JPA/Loss Control

JPA Loss Control staff can provide assistance on all student and employee safety matters, such as site inspections, consultation on specific problems, liaison with regulatory agencies, training programs, etc. Loss Control publishes a monthly safety and health newsletter, School Safety Update, and a bimonthly site safety newsletter, Let's Talk Safety. Training programs are also offered monthly. (Phone 569-5340)

Cal/OSHA Consultation

Cal/OSHA will provide a wide range of safety and health services to the district at no cost. They will make site visits and conduct training programs. (Phone 279-3771)

Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company

The JPA's excess liability insurance carrier will provide assistance to the district if the problem is related to a liability issue. Industrial indemnity also has a film library that requires a minimum of a week's notice in advance of showing. (Phone 283-4471)

Safety Equipment Supply Companies

These firms will conduct training on the proper selection and use of personal and other protective equipment, such as fire extinguishers and fire alarms. The following firms can accommodate your requests:

San Diego County Safety Council

The Safety Council sells safety and health program materials, such as posters, films, videotapes, booklets, and periodicals that districts can use. The Council also rents films and videotapes. Membership is available in the Safety Council. (Phone 223-2657)
