One Theme, One Campus

March 13, 2019

07:00 PM - 09:00 PM

Room 26-220

Bredan Praniewicz,

As part of One Theme, One Campus series of events, renown scientist David Demer with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Southwest Fisheries Science Center will speak on the technology used to study fish habitats and populations from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Grossmont College in Room 26-220.

Demer is the leader of NOAA Fisheries' advanced survey technologies program. The event, organized by Grossmont College English instructor Bredan Praniewicz, will be followed by a Q and A. Grossmont College and The San Diego Center for Ethics in Science and Technology is putting on the event. Praniewicz is the One Theme, One Campus project director.

One Theme, One Campus originated in 2010 as a one-campus book festival celebrating such works as Rebecca Skloot's The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, and Siddhartha Mukherjee's The Emperor of All Maladies.  "One Theme, One Campus" evolved in 2014 into a broadly themed, multidisciplinary learning experience, the first of which addressed the global theme of "water." The current theme is food.
