The Governing Board has announced that the search is underway for the next Chancellor of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District (GCCCD).

Applications and nominations for the position of Chancellor of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District are currently being accepted until the position is filled.

How to Apply

This is a confidential search process. To ensure full consideration, application materials should be received no later than August 16, 2019. The position will remain open until filled.


Candidates will need to have the following information or materials available to complete the application:

  1. A letter of application (not to exceed 5 pages) that succinctly addresses the opportunities and challenges identified in the Position Profile and demonstrates how the candidate’s experience and professional qualifications prepare them to serve as the Chancellor of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District.
  2. A current resume including an email address and cellular telephone number.
  3. A list of eight references: example, two to three supervisors, two to three direct reports and two to three faculty and/or staff members from current and former institutions.

- Search Consultant facilitates a series of open public forums to solicit input for the development of a Draft Chancellor Profile (staff, faculty, students, administrators, and community members are invited to attend); electronic survey distributed to solicit feedback for the Draft Chancellor Profile.
- Search Committee Meeting - Training and Orientation
- Special Board meeting – Discussion of the search process and Governing Board to edit, review and approve the Chancellor Profile.                                            

May 22–August 16, 2019              
Chancellor Profile posted on and Targeted local, state-wide, and national one-to-one recruitment commences; national advertising placed.

August 16, 2019                               
Target Date for Receipt of Applications (open until filled).

Early-September 2019                  
Search Committee Meeting; Discussion and selection of confidential semifinalist candidates.

Late-September 2019                   
Search Committee Meeting; Confidential interviews with semifinalists; after the final interview, the Committee deliberates and selects finalists to forward to the Governing Board for further consideration.                                                              

October 7-14, 2019                         
Final candidates interview with the Governing Board, tour campuses, participate in open public forums, meet with direct reports, etc.

Late-October 2019
