The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is inviting applications for the position of appointed member of the Board of Trustees for Trustee Area 1 - Santee, Winter Gardens, and Lakeside
The appointed member will serve until the next regularly scheduled election for Trustee Area 1, which is November 3, 2026.
The Board is seeking candidates who have the ability and time to fulfill the responsibilities of being a member of the Board, which include:
- Be committed to the mission and functions of community colleges; understand educational, social, and economic policy issues pertaining to community colleges.

Participate fully in the work of the Board, which includes attending all Board meetings and key events, studying and discussing policy issues, and participating in trustee orientation, training, and professional development programs.

Be knowledgeable about the communities served by the District.

Engage in balancing the needs of many diverse groups and be able to contribute to and build consensus.

Contribute to effective Board functioning and support the authority of the Board as a whole. The Board of Trustees meets once monthly. Please refer to the Governing Board Year 2025 Meeting Schedule for the remaining meeting dates this calendar year.

Candidate Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old -
Must be a registered voter -
Must be a resident of Trustee Area 1, which includes Santee, Winter Gardens, and Lakeside -
Must not be disqualified from holding civil office by the Constitution or any law of the state of California
Application Requirements:
- A one-page letter of interest addressed to the President of the Board of Trustees
- A résumé or curriculum vitae (CV)
- A completed application
- A minimum of two (2) and up to four (4) letters of reference

If mailed, the application must arrive by 5:00 p.m. on September 4, 2025.

Applications for candidates who have been confirmed to meet the criteria will be provided to the Governing Board for review prior to the interview. Candidates meeting the criteria will be invited to be interviewed at a special public Board meeting on September 15, 2025 or September 16, 2025. The Board reserves the right to invite a subset of candidates back for a second interview on September 22, 2025. The individual will be sworn in when the final selection is made.
