Windows 7, 8, and 10 Basic Wireless Instructions

 

WiFi is available at Cuyamaca Hotspots and Grossmont Hotspots (including district offices), for registered students, faculty, and staff.

Windows 10
  1. Click on the Wireless Network Connection icon on the bottom right of your screen
  2. Select the Grossmont or Cuyamaca Wireless
  3. If it is displayed, the Connect Automatically box should be checked
  4. Click Connect
  5. Enter your GCCCD username and password
Windows 8
  1. Go to Settings:
    1. Swipe from the right side of your tablet/phone or, for desktop and laptop machines, move your mouse pointer to the upper righthand corner of your screen
    2. Click on the settings (wheel Icon), click on the Available Icon
  2. Select the Grossmont or Cuyamaca Wireless
  3. If it is displayed, the Connect Automatically box should be checked
  4. Click Connect
  5. Enter your GCCCD username and password
  6. Click OK, Connect
Windows 7
  1. Click on the Wireless Network Connection icon on the bottom right of your screen
  2. Select the Grossmont or Cuyamaca Wireless
  3. If it is displayed, the Connect Automatically box should be checked
  4. Click Connect (if you get a security alert, see the Windows 7 Security Alert section below)
  5. Enter your GCCCD username and password

If you try to connect to our wireless system with Windows 7, you may get a security alert:

“The connection attempt could not be completed”
“The Credentials provided by the server could not be validated. We recommend that you terminate the connection and contact your administrator with the information provided in the details. You may still connect but doing so exposes you to security risk by a possible rogue server.”

 

The security alert lets you know that the server you are connecting to may not be a trusted source. You can connect to the wireless network by confirming that you are connecting to a Grossmont or Cuyamaca server and trusting the AddTrust security certificate. To do this:

Click on the ‘Details’ down arrow on the security alert screen.

Check that the Radius Server matches one of the following:
For Grossmont College: either G18.gcccd.edu or G23.gcccd.edu
For Cuyamaca College: either C24.gcccd.edu or C25.gcccd.edu

If so, then you can safely click the Connect button and use the Grossmont or Cuyamaca wireless network.

If the Radius Server does not match one of the Grossmont or Cuyamaca servers, click the Terminate button and contact the GCCCD Information Systems Help Desk at 619-644-7547.

 

Windows 7 Phone
  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Wi-Fi Settings
  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on (use of the virtual sliding switch)
  4. Select Grossmont Wireless or Cuyamaca Wireless
  5. Enter your GCCCD username and password
  6. Select Done
  7. Select Connect
