Grossmont College student Joseph Salcido plans to transfer to San Diego State in fall 2023.
EL CAJON – Grossmont College is the top transfer school to San Diego State University for the sixth year in a row.
Based on data provided by SDSU, more Grossmont College students enrolled at the university than from any other school again during the fall 2022 semester.
“Our students continue to lead the region with excellence,” said Grossmont College President Denise Whisenhunt. “Their accomplishments have led us to be the number one transfer school to SDSU for six years in a row. Their determination combined with Grossmont College's incredible academics and support programs creates exceptional pathways to competitive four-year universities throughout the state, including SDSU.”
One of the students who plans to transfer to SDSU in fall 2023 is English major Joseph Salcido, former editor-in-chief of The Summit, Grossmont College’s student newspaper, and a student veteran. He credits the quality of academics and support at Grossmont College for enabling him to achieve his goal of transferring to SDSU.
“Grossmont College is the decisive reason why I can say I will be attending SDSU in the fall,” Salcido said. “Now I’m onto the next chapter in my life as an Aztec, but my journey will have always begun with Grossmont College.”
The Grossmont College Transfer Center provides students with clear paths and plans to transfer to the California State University and the University of California systems, as well as private and out-of-state colleges and universities. In addition to transfer planning and counseling, the Transfer Center hosts tours to universities, application workshops, information sessions, transfer fairs at Grossmont College and more. The college provides a wide variety of student services, along with more than 170 degrees and certificates.
“We continue this success because of the great family we have built here at Grossmont College," said Sarah Moore, Transfer Center coordinator. “Without our students and employees working together, this would not be possible. Grossmont College will continue to set the standard and help Griffins thrive in their education.”
