EL CAJON, CA – The Grossmont College Dance Department’s annual fall dance program, “Breaking Boundaries,” returns to the Grossmont College Performing and Visual Arts Center, on November 20, 2025, through November 22, 2025. This year’s show features original choreography from 14 students in multiple disciplines; modern, hip hop, jazz, contemporary, ballet and tap. The concert is co-directed by Grossmont College Faculty Dance Instructor, Gina Bolles Sorensen, and Adjunct Dance Instructor Jazmyn Brown.

The Grossmont College Dance Program was founded in 1964 with the initial goal of highlighting dance as an art form and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. The growing popularity of the program led to the implementation of an associate degree program in 1989, allowing for a robust guest teacher outreach program, and preparing students for transfer or immediate employment in the entertainment industry. The department provides a supportive, nurturing environment for all students, from those seeking personal enrichment to the professionally minded.

The Grossmont College Performing & Visual Arts Center was designed and built through funds with Proposition V, a $398-million bond measure approved by East County voters in 2012. The facility includes areas for instruction, a 390-seat performance hall for dance, theatre, and live music programs, as well as the Hyde Art Gallery.

More information can be found on the Breaking Boundaries webpage. General admission tickets are $15.00, and can be purchased in-person at the theater box office, or online. The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. one hour before the performance.
