El Cajon, CA - Grossmont College is proud to host two A.I. Workshops, in collaboration with the East County Chamber. Offered on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., the workshops will focus on practical AI use for businesses such as email and meeting summaries, workflow efficiency, customer communication, and social media automation.

Additionally, Dr. Javier Ayala, Grossmont College Dean of Careers and Workforce Development, will discuss the Applied AI Programs and courses offered at Grossmont College. The workshops are free, and open to the public, and a waitlist will be created if demand exceeds capacity.

The Grossmont College Applied AI associate degree is the first of its kind offered at a California community college. After three years of development, Grossmont College’s applied AI program includes new noncredit AI certificates that introduce students to generative AI, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, cloud-based tools and ethical AI usage. These comprehensive workforce training programs reinforce the District’s ability to anticipate and respond to emerging workforce needs.  Since Grossmont College launched its Associate of Science degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence this past November, enrollment in the program has increased 143%, and it is still rising.

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District along with Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges partner with the San Diego East County Regional Chamber to strengthen workforce development, support local employers, and advance economic growth. Through shared initiatives, events, and partnerships, the district and Chamber connect education with industry—ensuring students gain relevant skills while regional businesses have access to a talented, career-ready workforce.
