El Cajon, CA — Cuyamaca College will host the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the San Diego Center for Economic Education (SDCEE) on Thursday, April 23, 2026, commemorating 20 years of partnership with the SDCEE. Cuyamaca College assists and supports the SDCEE in providing financial literacy programs, workshops, and outreach for local high school, middle school, and elementary school students across East County San Diego.

The Celebration will take place from 4:00 - 5:30 pm at Cuyamaca College, and will bring together educators, students, supporters, and community leaders to reflect on SDCEE’s work, and look ahead to the future.

The SDCEE, established in 1979 and hosted at Cuyamaca College since 2006, provides professional development for teachers, classroom resources, and programs for pre-K through college students across the county. SDCEE conducts workshops and webinars for teachers and delivers sessions that connect economic concepts to real-world financial decision-making.

“Cuyamaca College is proud to serve as the home of the San Diego Center for Economic Education and to support its work over the past 20 years,” said Jessica Robinson, President of Cuyamaca College. “SDCEE has helped teachers and students build a stronger understanding of economics and personal finance, and we look forward to continuing that work.”

“Cuyamaca College’s support over the past 20 years has made SDCEE’s work with teachers and students across San Diego County and beyond possible,” notes Anthony Zambelli, Director of the SDCEE. “With personal finance becoming a graduation requirement, our work focuses on helping teachers deliver relevant instruction and centralize the importance of economics in personal finance education.”

Rohn Trieglaff, President of the EconEd Foundation echoed the significance of this milestone: “The EconEd Foundation values Cuyamaca College’s long support of SDCEE and is proud to help sustain this work. That support has helped SDCEE expand economic and financial literacy programs for teachers and students across the region.” The EconEd Foundation, established in 1978, serves as the funding arm of SDCEE and has supported its work since the center was established at Cuyamaca College.

The event comes as California prepares to implement a personal finance graduation requirement beginning with the Class of 2027, making the work of SDCEE even more relevant moving forward. SDCEE will continue this important work with schools, teachers, and organizations to support that effort through professional development and access to classroom resources at no charge.
