Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges welcome nearly 30,000 students for fall 2026

El Cajon, CA –On Monday, August 24, 2026, the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District (the District) welcomed thousands of students for the fall semester. Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges offer affordable pathways to degrees, certificates, university transfer and career training. Whether a student is starting college for the first time, preparing to transfer to a four-year university, training for a new career or returning to build new skills, Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges offer programs designed to help them reach their goals.

Students include enrolled high school students to retirees, and both colleges work closely with local employers and workforce organizations, K–12 schools, and other community partners to develop education and training pathways for high-demand careers in fields such as healthcare, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, skilled trades and business.

Cuyamaca College offers eight Academic and Career Pathways that prepare students for transfer and career success. Dual enrollment partnerships build on that commitment, including a new collaboration with Mount Miguel High School, now officially designated an Early College High School beginning this fall — a milestone that puts higher education within reach for students at one of the District's most economically disadvantaged schools. Cuyamaca also supports students beyond the classroom through Cuyamaca Cares, now located in a new renovated larger space, which provides help with food, housing, basic needs and more.

Grossmont College resumes with newly renovated learning spaces and expanded student support services. Buildings 51 and 55 re-open this fall after a $27.9 million renovation that included modernizing classrooms and technology and expanding various resources. Grossmont is also celebrating the full opening of its Pride Center, providing a dedicated space for the LGBTQIA+ community, and students will have access to an expanded Gizmo’s Kitchen, the college’s basic needs hub offering food assistance and connections to housing, transportation and other resources.
