District Receives East County Honors Award for Excellence in Educational Services

El Cajon, CA – On Saturday, February 28, 2026, the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District was honored for Excellence in Educational Services by the San Diego Regional East County Chamber of Commerce at the 114th Annual Awards Ceremony. The annual signature event welcomed hundreds of business and community leaders from across the region for an evening dedicated to honoring excellence, leadership, and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives East County forward. Each year, outstanding businesses, organizations, and individuals are recognized, all nominated and voted on by the public. 

“On behalf of the Governing Board, the college presidents, and more than 2,500 employees, it is an honor to accept this award for our District,” said Chancellor Lynn Ceresino Neault. “We have the privilege every day to serve the East County community, and to change the lives of our students. We are truly grateful to be recognized.”

Additionally, Cuyamaca College President Jessica Robinson was officially sworn in during the installation of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, where she will serve on behalf of the District. 

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, which includes Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges, is the largest institution of higher education in East County, and has been proudly serving East County for 65 years, boasting approximately 80% of East County residents’ as alumni. The colleges serve nearly 30,000 students each semester, with a strong commitment to diversity and equity, with a student population representing multiple backgrounds, and socioeconomic levels, including veterans and adult learners.

The District is a premier provider of workforce training and education, with an annual economic impact of $1.3 billion on San Diego County. Both colleges offer hundreds of programs and student services tailored to meet diverse needs, while leading the region with the highest transfers to SDSU. Grossmont College has been recognized as a Champion of Higher Education for its Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program, and Cuyamaca College is ranked “Best for Vets” and earned a 2024 Excellence in Placement Award for Black Transfer-level Math Success.
