You will need an email account to use with online classes. If you do not already have an account, free email accounts can be obtained from online companies such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, and others. Links to some email web sites can be found at the Download Center.

To change your email in Canvas, you need to change it in WebAdvisor under the student menu, Personal Information. It will be updated in Canvas the next day.

Campus Email Account

All students enrolled at Grossmont and Cuyamaca automatically have a student email account created for them each semester.
Please note that these accounts are deleted at the end of every semester. For this reason, most instructors prefer that you use an email account other than this campus account as the primary email account that is listed in WebAdvisor and Canvas.  However, to get student discounts on software or if your instructor requires it you may need to access your campus email account.

Instructions on how to access your campus email account: 

  • Go to 
  • When the page loads, you will then see a logon screen
  • Your User name is the same as in WebAdvisor, up to 20 characters including the 'dot', all lower case, no spaces (for example john.smith)
  • Your password is usually your 6-digit birthday (mmddyy)
