The California Contract Code regulates our use of independent contractors/consultants and imposes penalties on individuals and entities that violate its restrictions. An approved agreement must be in place PRIOR to scheduling an indiviudal to perform services regardless of cost.

How to Complete an Independent Contractor Packet
To request services from an independent contractor at GCCCD, you must complete and submit the Independent Contractor Packet. This ensures legal compliance and proper classification before work begins.
Quick Steps
Step 1: Complete Required Documents
Obtain and fill out all required forms:
- Statement of Work: Description of the work, deliverables, timeline, rate, and work
location.
NET-30 Terms only
Independent Contractor Checklist Form: Completed by the department and approved by HR
Quote or agreement from the contractor
Step 2: Submit the Documents
Attach all completed documents to your Requisition.
Step 3: Review by Purchasing
GCCCD Purchasing will review your submission and respond with approval or requests for additional information.
Important Reminders
Do not let the contractor begin work before getting approval.
Do not sign any contractor documents unless you have District-level Delegation of
Authority.
Missing or incomplete forms will delay approval.
