GCCCD Child Development Centers: Excellence in Early Childhood Education

The Grossmont College and Cuyamaca College Child Development Centers share a unified commitment to delivering high-quality early
childhood education and comprehensive support for children, families, students, and
the broader community. As integral programs within the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community
College District, both centers uphold a shared mission to provide safe, inclusive
and developmentally appropriate learning environments where young children can grow,
explore, and thrive.
Serving as a model laboratory for schools, the centers play a vital role in supporting the academic success of college students pursuing studies in child development and related fields. Through hands-on practicum experiences, guided observation, and professional mentorship, the centers prepare future early childhood educators with the knowledge, skills and dispositions essential to high-quality practice.

Both centers are dedicated to:
- Creating nurturing, play-based learning environments that honor each child's individuality, culture and developmental needs
- Partnering with families, recognizing that strong family relationships are central to children's learning and well-being
- Promoting equity, inclusion and respect for all children, families and staff
- Modeling research-based best practices in early childhood education and professional standards
- Strengthening the community by providing accessible, high-quality child care and educational opportunities
Together, the Grossmont College and Cuyamaca College Child Development Centers affirm their shared commitment to excellence, collaboration,
and the belief that every child deserves a joyful, enriching early learning experience.
Through aligned values and coordinated efforts, the centers continue to advance the
well-being of children and families while supporting the academic and professional
growth of college students.
