Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

Welcome to the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District! We care about keeping your personal information safe and secure. To help protect your data, we require all students, faculty, and staff to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) when accessing any of the District’s information systems.

What is MFA?

Multi-factor authentication is a security process that asks you to provide two or more verification methods, like a password and a code sent to your phone, to access a system. This extra layer of security helps keep your account safe even if one of your verification methods, like your password, is compromised.

Setting Up MFA

Visit our Microsoft Authenticator page to find out how to set up MFA. It’s easy and quick!

Recommended MFA App

We recommend using Microsoft’s Authenticator app because it’s user-friendly, secure, works both online and offline…and it’s free! While you can use any authenticator app compatible with Microsoft 365, please note that our Help Desk offers limited support for apps other than Microsoft Authenticator.

Alternative MFA Options

If you don’t have a compatible mobile device, you can use your mobile number for texting and voice calling MFA.
